Bennett & Co E-commerce

4 staff · £950k turnover · Amazon and Shopify seller

Multi-currency e-commerce bookkeeping brought under control.

An e-commerce business selling through Shopify used Stripe for customer payments and Wise EUR and GBP accounts for receiving funds and making payments.

The records included hundreds of Shopify orders, Stripe balance transactions and Stripe payouts, with money moving through Wise in more than one currency. We reviewed the sales, payment processor reports and Wise accounts, then used a summary posting and control account method to keep the bookkeeping efficient while still reconciling the key figures properly.

This helped the client move from scattered platform records to a clearer bookkeeping position ready for year-end accounts and corporation tax work.

“It paid for itself in the first month.”

Frequently asked questions

Yes — FCA-authorised, customer funds safeguarded in segregated accounts at major banks. A different model to a traditional bank but well-regulated.

Some clients do; many keep both. Wise excels at FX; UK clearing, business loans and overdrafts still need a UK bank.

Typically 1.5–3% per international transaction versus a UK high street bank. It adds up fast for any business with regular overseas activity.

Yes — bidirectional sync. The bank feed pulls transactions automatically and payments can be initiated from Wise.

Xero handles multi-currency natively (Premium plan required). We configure the FX accounts and revaluation method correctly at setup.
